American poet, novelist, known as the King of Greenwich Village Bohemians, his writing brought him international fame during the Jazz age of the 1920s, murdered, along with his wife, at age 62 by a 25 year old dishwasher who Bodenheim befriended on the streets of Greenwich Village. Exceedingly RARE ALS "Maxwell Bodenheim", 5.25x7, no date, filled with Bodenheim's fantastic musings, in part: "Freedom is only the lowest possible degree of slavery, and yet the struggle for it brings delicately questioning peace to the center of ones being...".
