Premier 20th century American photographer renowned for his black & white photography of the last days of steam locomotive railroading in the United States in the late 1950s. Originally a commercial photographer, Link helped establish rail photography as an investment quality collectible, he also pioneered night photography, producing several well known examples. Original black & white silver print photograph by O. Winston Link entitled "Train No. 17, The Birmingham Special, Gets a Highball" (Rural Retreat, Virginia), 15.5x19.25, with Link's signature, print date, negative notation NW 1635 & additional printing notations, in pencil & his copyright hand stamp, also with the negative notation, in pencil, on verso, 1957, printed 1991, a crisp, strong impression
